The first question we get on every magnetic light box inquiry is not about size, brightness or price. It is "which way am I going to mount this?" That single decision changes everything else — the frame depth, the LED driver placement, even the packing. Get the installation wrong and you end up with the wrong unit on the wall. Get it right and the rest of the spec falls into place.

Below is how we usually walk a new buyer through the three installation options on this magnetic light box.

Wall mounting — when the surface is permanent

If your magnetic light box is going on a wall that you do not plan to move — a cinema lobby, a real estate window, a boutique backdrop — wall mounting is the default. We supply keyhole slots on the back of the frame so you can hang it on two screws, drop the magnetic light box into place, level it, and walk away. No drilling into the frame, no electrician required for the non-LED version.

For an LED magnetic light box on a permanent wall, plan the power feed before you order. The driver needs a recessed outlet or a surface conduit — running an extension cord across a cinema lobby is not a long-term solution. We have spec'd magnetic light box projects where the wall was retrofitted with a flush outlet exactly behind the frame, so the cable disappears completely.

Tabletop standing — when the message changes weekly

If you are a café, bar or restaurant rotating promotions every week, the tabletop magnetic light box is what you actually want. It is the same frame as the wall-mounted version but with a thicker base plate, so it sits on a counter without tipping. You change the picture in seconds — peel the PP front sheet, drop a new graphic against the magnetic back panel, snap the PP sheet back, done. No tools, no graphic house call.

The honest limitation: a tabletop magnetic light box is meant to be looked at from one or two sides, not walked around. If you want 360° visibility, you want a freestanding SEG light box, not this product. Different category, different price band.

Hanging — ceiling or truss in shopping malls and exhibition halls

If your magnetic light box is going to hang from a ceiling truss or a sign rail in a shopping mall atrium, we switch the frame hardware. The wall-mount keyhole slots become suspension points, the LED driver moves to the top edge of the frame, and the unit ships with two stainless aircraft cables instead of screws. We have shipped hanging units up to A1 size — beyond that we move to a different frame construction.

One thing to confirm before you order: most mall management teams need a hanging sign-off from their facilities contractor. We provide the weight and the suspension-point load spec; your facilities contractor signs off on whether the ceiling can take it.

The "adsorption fixed picture" part, and why it matters

Most cheap magnetic light box units on the market hold the picture with a thin magnetic strip at the edges. They work for a month and then the corners curl. Our magnetic light box uses a full-perimeter magnetic array — neodymium, not ferrite — bonded to the inside of the 2.5cm snap aluminium profile. The picture sits flat. It stays flat through humidity swings and overnight temperature drops that you see in mall atriums and unconditioned-out lobby areas.

The PP front sheet is what protects the picture. We use a 0.5mm transparent PP, not acrylic, because acrylic scratches within a year under weekly picture changes. PP is cheaper to replace and easier to ship.

LED or no light — the honest split

If the magnetic light box is going into a bright retail environment, skip the LED. The picture is the message, the backlight is wasted energy, and you save 30–40% on the unit. If it is going into a cinema lobby, a bar after dusk, or any space where the ambient light drops below 200 lux, spend the extra on the LED module.

The 2835 LED chip we spec runs at 24V with a 35,000-hour rated life — that is roughly four years of 24/7 operation, or ten years of typical retail hours. We have units still running in client locations after eight years on the original LED strip. The driver usually dies first, not the LEDs.

Sizes, depths and what we ship

Standard sizes from A4 to A0, custom up to 120cm x 80cm. Depth 2.5cm for non-LED, 3.2cm for LED versions to fit the driver. Snap frame construction so the front PP sheet pops out for picture changes, and every magnetic light box ships with a test graphic pre-loaded so you can confirm colour calibration before sign-off.

A single magnetic light box ships in a bubble bag + soft foam + single inner box. For OEM orders above 50 units we ship in a five-ply master carton. Worldwide delivery by sea, air or express.

Common questions

How long does a picture change take? About 30 seconds for A4 / A3 size, 1–2 minutes for A1. No tools.

Can I print my own pictures or do I need to source from you? Either. We can supply dye-sub printed graphics on request, or you can use standard photo prints cut to size. The magnetic back panel does not care what is on the front.

Is the LED version dimmable? Standard LED is non-dimmable. We can fit a dimmable driver on request — add 3 working days to lead time and a small cost premium.

What is the warranty? Two years on the frame and magnetic array, one year on the LED module and driver.
