The most valuable real estate at a trade show is not on the floor. It is four meters above it.

Walk any exhibition hall and the first thing you see from the aisle — before you see a single booth wall, before you read a single product graphic — is the hanging sign above the largest exhibits. A 20x20ft booth with a backlit overhead sign is visible from three aisles away. The same booth without one is invisible until you are standing in front of it. That is the difference between a display that people find and a display that finds people, and it is the reason every major exhibitor at every major show hangs something above their booth.

This is our hanging light box — a double-sided SEG LED display designed to be suspended from an exhibition hall ceiling, visible from every direction, and built light enough that it does not cost a fortune in rigging fees. It is the one product in our catalog that does not compete with our other displays. It complements them. A booth with walls and counters and a hanging sign above it is a complete presence; a booth with walls and no sign is just a room.

Why Hanging Changes Every Engineering Decision

A floor-standing light box can be heavy. It sits on the ground, the ground holds it, and the only weight limit is what two people can carry. A hanging light box has no such luxury. Every kilogram adds rigging cost — exhibition halls charge by the point and by the kilogram — and every kilogram adds stress to the suspension cables and the ceiling structure. A hanging display that weighs 40 kg needs four rigging points and a structural engineer's sign-off at most venues. The same display at 18 kg needs two points and goes up in twenty minutes.

We build our hanging light boxes around that number. The frame is extruded aluminum, 80 mm profile — thinner than our 120 mm floor system because a hanging sign does not need the same lateral rigidity. The LED strips are 24V low-profile, mounted on a lightweight backing panel rather than a solid aluminum sheet. The graphics are dye-sublimation SEG fabric, which is the lightest backlit medium we use. A 3-meter-wide double-sided hanging sign comes in at under 16 kg complete, including graphics and power supply. That is light enough that two rigging points are sufficient at most halls, and it is light enough that the booth's general contractor can hang it without a dedicated crew.

The suspension system uses steel aircraft cables with adjustable turnbuckles at each corner, so the sign can be leveled on site even if the ceiling attachment points are not perfectly aligned. The cables attach to integrated hanging points in the top frame — no drilling, no custom brackets, no "we will figure it out on site." We learned early that a hanging sign without proper attachment points becomes a custom metal fabrication job at the venue, and venue metal fabrication is the most expensive metalwork on earth.

What Sizes and Shapes We Build

Standard hanging light boxes are rectangular, from 1 x 2 m up to 3 x 6 m, and we build custom sizes and shapes — circles, triangles, curved profiles, logo contours — on request. A custom shape requires a custom frame and a custom graphic, and we quote both with a lead time that reflects the tooling. The standard rectangular frames use existing tooling and ship in 15 working days.

A hanging sign is almost always part of a larger booth system. Most clients pair it with our 120MM SEG booth walls or a pop-up back wall, so the overhead sign carries the brand and the walls carry the product detail. We can quote the complete system — hanging sign, back wall, counter, accessories — as one package with one lead time and one shipping crate, or we can quote the hanging sign alone for a client who already has a booth and just needs the overhead piece.
